Cottage 761 Sandy Lake
Note from cottage owner:
This rustic 1935 cottage is ideal for families, or anyone, seeking a quiet, private retreat. Situated on eight acres, this traditional cottage offers extraordinary privacy. We are located on the east shore of Sandy Lake–one of the most pristine lakes in the Kawarthas–a sandy, spring fed, turquoise, and landlocked lake. This tranquil piece of paradise has been in the family for four generations and offers acres of privacy to explore, swim, paddle, and watch gorgeous sunsets. This is nature at its finest, where the call of the loons will lull you to sleep every night.
The main cottage has a warm and comfortable feel with pine wood walls, original artifacts, impressive granite fireplace, piano, and a large enclosed front veranda. There are two bedrooms, a four-piece bathroom, traditional kitchen, and enclosed back kitchen with a cozy eating nook. The two-bedroom sleeping cabin next to the main cottage is where you can relax and sleep in. The property boasts 500 ft of prime waterfront, incredible tall white pines, and absolutely no view or sound from the neighbours.
The cottage is located 5 km from the town of Buckhorn. Buckhorn is a lovely village on the Trent-Severn Waterway system, offering grocery, bakery, liquor, and hardware stores, and public conveniences such as the Buckhorn Public Library and Trent Lakes Health Clinic. Nearby towns include Lakefield (20 min), Bobcaygeon (20 min), Bridgenorth (20 min) and Peterborough (35 min).
Summer activities in the area include excellent golfing at Six Foot Bay Golf Resort (5 min), paddleboard rentals at the end of Sandy Lake (5 min), fishing and boat rentals on nearby Buckhorn Lake, and Gallery on the Lake just past Buckhorn. The Whetung Ojibwa Centre, The Peterborough Liftlock, and Peterborough Canoe Museum are a 30-minute drive, should you ever choose to leave!
